This homemade BBQ sauce is a real treat and slightly healthier than some on the market as it is organic and also it has no preservatives in it. You can use it as a dipping sauce for potato wedges or something else, or pop it on cooked tofu or meat.
Makes enough to cover a large packet of tofu, or one small bowl of dipping sauce.
All ingredients are from Ocado, except the olive oil which is from Abel and Cole.
You’ll need:
1/4 small onion and one clove of garlic, finely chopped
A teaspoon of butter or oil
2 x tea spoons of olive oil
The spice mix: 4 tsp tomato ketchup, 2 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp unsmoked paprika, a pinch of optional chilli powder, a slosh of balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper to taste.
How to:
Cook the onions and garlic in the butter until very soft, cook low heat.
Then put everything else in the pan and heat very gently for about five mins. Check for saltiness/sweetness and add a little more sugar or salt if it warrants it. If it looks too thick once it has cooled, put a splash more balsamic in and stir well.
Will keep in the fridge for a few days if you cover it.
Enjoy!
